In terms of cost and environmental impact, boilers that are over ten years old waste a lot of valuable energy. In fact, many older boilers waste up to 40% of the fuel they burn instead of converting it to heat.

You should be aware that current building regulations state that any replacement or new gas-fired boiler must be a condensing boiler. Older boilers convert as little as 60% of the fuel they use into heat which will impact your home heating bills, as well as the environment.

Solar Heating & Hot Water

Solar thermal energy is probably the best known and most popular form of domestic renewable energy. The sun’s energy is collected by flat plate collectors or evacuated tubes (usually on the roof) which are orientated towards the sun in order to warm the property’s water naturally.

Contrary to common belief, a lot of solar energy can still be gained from solar collectors even on cloudy days. Manufacturers state that an average property should receive around 60-70% of the properties total hot water demands from solar thermal systems. 

Air to Air Heat Pumps

An air to air heat pump is an all-in-one heating and cooling system that is designed to provide year-round comfort.

The Greensource Air to Air Heat Pump converts energy from the air outside into heat inside and then circulates warm air, providing a comfortable temperature around the home.

Air to Water Heat Pumps

An Air to Water units provides hot water via a built-in hot water cylinder, making it an ideal replacement for an old or inefficient boiler.

They use a small amount of electricity and are in excess of 300% efficient. That means that for every kilowatt of electricity used, the unit will generate at least three units of heat. These boilers are designed to replace traditional gas and oil fuelled boilers based on the principle that electricity will remain more stable, and therefore cheaper, in the long run.
